This practice was brought to the west from India a century ago by Paramahansa Yogananda. It has been practiced continuously on Thursday evenings in ashrams, temples, and meditation groups in nearly every country of the world…truly a world wide healing circle. After some introductory remarks and instruction for newer meditators, we sing a simple chant, in English, for a few minutes to help us calm the body and mind…especially helpful after a busy day at work…preparing us for meditation. We then meditate for about 40 minutes. After meditating and taking a moment to think of those in need of healing, we stand for the healing technique. Facing east, we say a simple prayer responsively. Then gathering energy in the palms of our hands, we raise them to the level of the spiritual eye and chant OM for the body, for the mind, for the spirit, and then for world peace and harmony, closing with a prayer encouraging universal love. We hope you will join us. It is quite alright to come in a bit late if your schedule doesn’t permit a 5:15 arrival.
